Barterhouse is the first release of the Orphan Barrel Project and stocks for this bourbon were discovered in an old warehouses at the Stitzel-Weller facility in Louisville and taken for further ageing at the current Bernheim Distillery in Kentucky and then bottled at the George Dickel Distillery in Tullahoma, TN.
Barterhouse has a mash bill of 86% corn, 8% barley, and 6% rye, the first and second release each consisted of about 45,000 bottles which were bottled in 2014.
Tasting notes; dry oak, caramel, cherry, vanilla oak, maple and spice.
