I.W Harper Gold Medal Bourbon For Sale
I.W Harper is a Kentucky straight bourbon, named "Gold Medal" due to the numerous awards it won in the late 1800s. It was, for a time, the most popular American Whiskey brand in Japan.
I.W Harper was started in the 1872 by Isaac Wolfe Bernheim and his brother Bernard and developed as their flagship product. It was one of the few products that was allowed to be produced as a medicinal whiskey. The whiskey also survived a number of distillery moves; it was distilled at the first, second and third Bernheim Distilleries, and various sales and purchases; Schenley company in 1937, United Distillers in the late 1960 which would become Diageo in the late 1980's
When Diageo sold the (3rd) Bernheim Distillery to Heaven Hill, Diageo retained the I.W. Harper brand name but the whiskey was distilled by Heaven Hill and ageing took place at the old Stitzel-Weller warehouses, also owned by Diageo.
