Old Taylor Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Italian Import
Old Taylor Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey For Sale
Italian Import of Old Taylor bottled at 80 PROOF / 40% ABV. We believe this to be an early 1990's bottle, distilled at the Old Taylor Distillery which was owned at the time by Jim Beam.
Edmond Haynes Taylor, Jr. worked in the bourbon business most of his life, starting out at Gaines and Berry Co., the home of Old Crow. He was instrumental in the passing of the Bottled-in-Bond Act
He started and owned seven different distilleries throughout his career, including the Old Fashioned Copper Distillery and Carlisle distilleries, known today as Buffalo Trace. He built the Old Taylor Distillery near Versailles, South of Frankfort in 1887 which was the first distillery to produce one million cases of Straight Bourbon whiskey.
After his death in 1922 National Distillers purchased the Old Taylor Distillery in 1935 and continued to distil there until 1972 when it was sold to the Jim Beam Corporation. Beam continued to store and age bourbon in the warehouses there until 1994 until it was mothballed. Today, the Old Taylor brand is owned by Sazerac, owners of Buffalo Trace Distillery who purchased it from Beam Suntory in 2009 and who continue to distil there today.
